Sparkfly – Catherine Tabor
CATHERINE TABOR
Founder & CEO
A technology pioneer and digital visionary, Catherine is a seasoned entrepreneur who has founded, sold, and scaled several businesses over the last 20 years.
Her entrepreneurial career kicked off while in school at Georgia State University, where she started a house-sitting and dog walking business to support herself through school. To her surprise, Coca-Cola found her business and invited her to bid on an RFP to manage their employee discount program. She won the business, built her first website, and started calling on other companies. Under Catherine’s leadership, the business successfully grew to serve more than 1 million employees at more than 150 companies.
Sparkfly evolved after Catherine began investigating options for tracking digital benefits against employee usage. Unable to find suitable technology to do so, she saw the gap in the market and acquired a company for the technology that would become the foundation of the current Sparkfly (spinning off the original company as Sparkfly Perks and eventually selling it to Entertainment Benefits Group – EBG).
Catherine and her team were among the first to develop connectivity between media, offers and promotions, and the point of sale. She was awarded two patents related to tracking mobile promotions and store loyalty, and was named one of Mobile Marketer’s Mobile Women to Watch.
Under Catherine’s leadership, Sparkfly has become an award-winning retail technology solutions company, earning recognition including Modern Retail’s “Best Transformation” award, Retail Technology Innovation Hub’s “Technology Implementation of the Year,” and multiple Loyalty360 Customer Experience Awards. The company posted 30% growth in 2024 while maintaining 98.6% client retention and expanding to over 18,000 locations across more than 100 brands, and has been named one of Atlanta’s Best Places to Work by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Leveraging this groundbreaking technology backed by 21 US patents, Sparkfly continues to grow and develop innovative solutions to address real business problems and deliver tangible results for its clients.
Catherine has served as chair of the marketing committee on the board of directors of Young Audiences, a former division of the Woodruff Arts Center, and has been a member of the Board of Visitors at the University of Georgia.
She enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and their 18-year-old daughter at their home in Atlanta, GA.
